Aphrodite Medicine

The Greek Goddess of Love & Passion.

Ceremonial cacao to awaken desire.

Boosted with Adaptogens (Ashwagandha, Maca, Chaga mushroom), Moroccan Rose, and Bourbon Vanilla.

  • Cacao

Cacao, goddess Cacao is a sacred plant to connect with the divine. It is a medicine full of antioxidants that lower cholesterol and blood pressure and soothe the heart after loss, Very much a heart herb.

It awakens desire, increases libido and increases sexual function.

Cacao contains theobromine, which is a medicinal component that is uplifting and stimulating. A sister of caffeine it can provide us with energy, however, it works very differently.

Caffeine constricts our blood vessels which makes our heart race and can cause anxiety, offering energy that can be rather stressful.

Theobromine, on the other hand, dilates our blood vessels, offering a sense of euphoria. This dilation floods our blood vessels with more oxygen, providing energy that is more calming. Often cacao makes us want to breathe deeper and fills us with feelings of love. Cacao love.

  • Chaga Mushroom

An adaptogen for stress resistance, heart support, Immune support, anti-ageing (longevity), protective and builds 'armour'.

Technically Chaga is not a mushroom. A mushroom is a ‘fruiting body’, instead it is a hard, woody mass of mycelium, known as a sclerotium. It is still a fungus, Chaga fungus doesn’t have the same ring to it as Chaga Mushroom.

Chaga is a very very old medicine indeed, archaeological evidence found that it was used by the Ötzi, also called the Iceman, a natural mummy of a man who lived between 3400 and 3100 BCE in the Ötztal Alps on the border between Austria and Italy. How amazing is that!?

It is still drunk today in Alaska, China & Russia on a daily basis as it is well known for its disease-fighting medicinal properties and for longevity.

The people of Siberia have been brewing it since ancient times for cancer treatment and they call it the "Gift of God."

If you are looking for immune support, a barrier to viruses and other pathogens, for longevity, to stay well happy and healthy then I highly recommend this marvellous preventative medicine. Because of its immune regulating actions…It is a great remedy for Psoriasis, as it is an autoimmune disorder.

Chaga Mushroom is considered an ADAPTOGEN. It helps us adapt to our environment. Chaga thrives in the cold, therefore its medicine offers resilience and protection from the cold… helping us to build resilience to the outer elements, whether that be the actual weather elements or your environment, that might be highly stressful.

Adaptogenic mushrooms help to bring the body back into balance, ‘homeostasis’. They function mainly by affecting the Hypothalamic–Pituitary–Adrenal (HPA axis) in response to stimulation by external stress.

They not only maintain or recover homeostasis in the body, they strengthen the functioning of each system. This helps regulate energy use by improving the function of the neuroendocrine system and enhancing cellular energy transfer, which can make body utilise oxygen, glucose, lipids and proteins very effectively (from the food we eat) thus providing us with a steady supply of energy.

They help us to cope with the stressors of life, to stay healthy throughout the year and throughout our lives and lift us out of the dark depths of depression and adrenal burnout.

Chaga mushrooms are also a powerful antioxidant and a source of superoxide dismutase (SOD) which stops oxidation and free radical damage, which can damage tissues = disease. AKA anti-ageing.

Chaga contains many vitamins and minerals; B2 riboflavin, B3 niacin, D vitamins, flavonoids, phenols, calcium, copper, iron, potassium, manganese, zinc, rubidium, potassium, cesium and germanium.

It holds Antiviral properties, clearing viruses from the body, studies have shown Chaga can aid in clearance of Herpes simplex and HPV. As well as clearing Parasites from the body. Additionally, a digestive healer, clearing overgrowths and unwanted infections in the stomach and intestines.

  • Maca

Peruvian Maca, is a plant that grows on the high plateaus of the Andes Mountains. It's been cultivated as a root vegetable and medicine for at least 3000 years. It was and still is taken traditionally by Peruvian tribes to prevent disease, recover from respiratory conditions, prevent rheumatoid problems like arthritis, promote fertility, support the journey through menopause, and increase sexual desire.

The root is sweet in taste, vanilla-like and creamy, some say like butterscotch and goes very well with chocolate. It contains fibre, amino acids, and many vital vitamins, and minerals, a very protective plant indeed.

It is an adaptogenic root, working on the HPA axis and adrenals, to build resilience and stress resistance.

It balances our hormones, supports the reproductive system, increases libido and sexual desire, awakens fertility and facilitates sperm function. Research has shown its ability to increase sperm count and increase sperm motility, helping conception.

Its hormone balancing virtues support the natural decline in Oestrogen that occurs during Menopause, which can cause a range of symptoms. Maca can support people who are going through menopause by helping alleviate some of the symptoms, including hot flashes, interrupted sleep, vaginal dryness, mood swings and irritability.

  • Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is an adaptogen for encouraging stress resistance. It increases strength & stamina, supports digestion, relieves anxiety, strengthens the heart, increases libido & fertility, and enhances sexual performance. It is said to impart the “strength of a horse”.

Adaptogens are substances that modulate our stress response or reaction to a changing environment. Adaptogens help the body cope with external stresses such as toxins in the environment and internal stresses such as anxiety and insomnia, or any stress-related disorders.

Ashwagandha is a herb for modern life, it is one of Ayurveda’s most prized adaptogenic herbs; it is known as ‘Rasayana’ meaning to rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit, back into complete balance, especially for the VATA constitution. It has been used for centuries to moderate our response to stress, bringing both energy and inner calm. Ashwagandha improves learning, memory, and reaction time, and reduces anxiety and depression but importantly without causing drowsiness.

A heart tonic, it supports the heart by lowering cholesterol levels and supporting the heart muscle.

By nourishing a busy mind and relaxing the overactive nervous system, it is a great herb for fertility. Often fertility can be blocked by stress. Additionally, it is an aphrodisiac, enhancing sexual performance for both men and women.

It is the herb for men who are struggling with infertility or are in a couple and you do not know why you are not getting pregnant. Most often the doctors look at the women’s fertility and often the men are discounted. In order to conceive we need a healthy amount of strong sperm that can swim fast to reach the egg. Asthenospermia (low sperm motility) and Oligospermia (Low sperm count) are becoming increasingly common with the amount of chemical in our environment. It is essential to remove Xenoestrogens from your environment as much as you can.

Ashwagandha is known for improving Asthenospermia (low sperm motility) and Oligospermia (Low sperm count)!

Additional Ashwagandha soothes menstrual irregularities, encourages a shy period, corrects amenorrhea (lack of periods), soothes painful periods and is supportive in Endometriosis.

  • Rose

Rosa, the beautiful Rose, is associated with love and beauty, just as our goddess Aphrodite is. Goddesses from all over the world are found holding Rose, Lakshmi, Freja, Oshun, Aphrodite…

We use the flowers in the summer and the hips in winter.

A rejuvenating herb for all the doshas (VATA, PITTA KAPHA).

Anti-depressant in nature, it is an excellent remedy for calming irritability, anger and low spirits. It is extremely supportive in the grief process, helping us through the stages of grief and out the other side.

It carries the feminine energy so strongly and I believe goddess energy… power, strength, stability, confidence, being in your power, a remedy for low self-esteem. Aphrodisiac in nature…It awakens desire, increases libido and supports fertility.

A Femme tonic for women/AFAB, balancing hormones, thus reducing symptoms of PMS, heavy and irregular periods and other disorders like Endometriosis, fibroids and menopausal hot flushes. Its antispasmodic properties calm spasms in the uterus and the gut.

Rose is a digestive healer, it clears toxins from the gut, it calms nausea, clears constipation & diarrhoea, removes wind & bloating and increases absorption of vital nutrients. It enhances immunity & rich in vitamins A, B, C and folic acid.

It decreases signs of ageing and soothes red angry inflammatory skin conditions, like eczema and psoriasis.

  • Vanilla

Vanilla, by no surprise, is an Aphrodisiac, increasing libido and awakening desire. Just the scent alone is medicine. Have you ever smelt a vanilla pod? It’s intoxicating, in a good way.

It is not commonly thought of as medicine, we mostly use it for its taste in baking. However, it is truly potent medicine.

Vanilla is a gut healer, it can treat gut inflammation and prevent diarrhoea, stomach spasms and vomiting. Traditionally, inhaling the flower was popular for soothing nausea.

It is rich in the minerals magnesium and potassium which are highly supportive for the nervous system, uplifting a low mood and calming anxiety.

Potassium is necessary for the normal functioning of all cells in the body. It regulates the heartbeat, and ensures proper function of the muscles and nerves, and is vital for synthesising protein and metabolising carbohydrates from our food.

Magnesium is involved in over three hundred biochemical reactions in your body. It is well researched and we know it helps with PMS symptoms, especially cramps and aching sore muscles in general. Epsom salt (magnesium salts) baths have become quite popular today. Magnesium looks after our nerve function, regulates blood pressure, and supports the immune system.
